BIOGRAPHY

Dr Aqilah Yaacob was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1989. She obtained her Doctor of Philosophy (Business Studies) from Cardiff University, UK, in 2020 as well as double masters from Cardiff University, UK which include Master of Science in Social Science Research Methods in 2016 and Master of Science in Finance in 2014. She was awarded Bachelor of Business Administrative (Hons) (Finance) in 2012 and Diploma in Business Studies in 2010 from University Teknologi MARA, Malaysia.

She previously worked as a manager in a charitable organization as well as a coordinator at Islamic Banking and Finance Centre of UK. Prior to entering academia, she was an intern at ExxonMobil Malaysia, and worked several part time jobs (e.g., Receptionist at Johnson Controls; Swimming instructor assistant at Ombak Swimming Club; Technical Assistant at Canon Marketing; Accountant and Secretary at Simple Events; Officer at Prudential Services Asia. Her first teaching experience started when she was a PhD candidate in Cardiff University, UK in 2015. Since then, she has taught numerous subjects such as Buyer Behavior, Social Entrepreneurship and Ethics, Services Marketing, Export Practices and Management, Management in Entrepreneurship and Principles of Marketing. She is currently supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her research interests are related to Marketing area (e.g., Consumer Behavior, Charitable Behavior, Non-profit Marketing, Services Marketing), Entrepreneurship field (e.g., Social Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Intentions), as well as Ethics and Sustainability issues (e.g., Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, Environmental and Societal Issues).

She is currently a lecturer at School of Management and Marketing, Faculty of Business and Law, Taylor’s University. Her work has appeared in scholarly journals such as Journal of Business Research, SEARCH Journal of Media and Communication Research and Journal of Content, Community and Communication. She has presented her work at many international conferences across the world including British Academy of Management Conference, Royal Bank International Research Conference, BLM2-ICAM4 An International Joint E-Conference and Taylor’s 14th: Teaching and Learning e-Conference and won several Gold Awards and APJBA Awards of Excellence by Asia-Pacific Journal of Business Administration, Emerald.

Dr Aqilah Yaacob has also received Research Grant Award for the Provision of MCMC Digital Society Research for IT Skills Programs for Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in Malaysia by Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia as well as Silver Award for the Innovation Competition and Exhibition (InCEx 21) by Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. She has received Excellent Teaching award by the Teaching Engagement Scale, Taylor’s University. She is the committee member of the advisory board of Assadaqat Community Finance, UK and the assistant school champion, committee for curriculum, design, assessment, and delivery, Taylor’s University. She is also the organizing committee for International Conference on Responsible Tourism and Hospitality, Malaysia and has been active in providing feedback as the competition judge for Taylor's SE.SAMA NAMA Pitch and CIMB Islamic Rider Entrepreneur Program, organized by Taylor’s Community in providing entrepreneurial support for the underprivileged groups.
